To mark the exhibition Marres Currents #3: Sightseeing De Brakke Grond & Marres host a discussion amongst participating artists, curators and guests. What are the issues surrounding the making of an exhibition of emerging artists? What does it offer the artists? What curatorial approaches can one take? This evening the curators of Marres Currents #3 present their approach, several participating artists share their experience, after which we will host a discussion on the topic of youth and the fiction of discovery in the art world.

Agata Jaworska

Agata Jaworska is a designer, curator and writer based in Amsterdam. With Giovanni Innella she initiated ‘Institute of Relevant Studies’, a studio for curation, research and design. Permanently in a state of beta, IoRS develops new models for business and culture as a form of design and expression. Guillemette Legrand

Guillemette is a designer, curator and social strategist based in Amsterdam. In her research Legrand is interested in political, social and cultural contexts. She is one of the curators of Marres Currents #3: Sightseeing.

Annelys de Vet

Annelys de Vet is a designer, initiator and curator based in Brussels. Since 2009 she heads the master in design ‘Think tank for visual strategies’ at the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam. Since 2003 De Vet initiated a series of subjective atlases that map countries from a human perspective; including Subjective atlas of Palestine (2007), Subjective atlas of Mexico (2011), Subjective atlas of Fryslân (2013) and Subjective atlas of Colombia (2015). bureaudevet.be

Karen Verschooren

Karen Verschooren is a contemporary art and design curator based in Belgium. She currently works as Head of Exhibitions for STUK Arts Centre, Leuven (BE) where she is responsible for the exhibition programme including ARTEFACT.

Jeroen Boomgaard

Jeroen Boomgaard is an art historian and art critic based in Amsterdam. He is currently Professor of Art and Public Space at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and head of Master Artistic Research at the Universiteit van Amsterdam.
