Marres Kitchen

The historical house of Marres has besides the changing art exhibitions a big, beautiful city garden and the coolest restaurant in Maastricht. During the day you enjoy a delicious coffee, lunch or a glass of wine. In the evening, chef Maher Al Sabbagh provides you one of the most exciting dining experiences in town.

From an early age, Maher could be found in the kitchen; his grandmothers started teaching him their cooking secrets when he was seven years old. From his thirteenth year onwards, he has been working in the kitchens of professional restaurants and patisseries in the Middle East. Maher cooked in Damascus, Beirut, Amman, Isfahan, Cairo, Rome, Sicily, Milan and recently in Rotterdam. He still regularly makes culinary expeditions in search of food from the ancient world.
