Public programme Winter Anti Depression Show: Katja Gruijters
26.2.2014
Katja Gruijters is a Dutch Food Designer. During her studies at the Design Academy Eindhoven she explored food as a means of communicating with food. Katja has developed food concepts for many companies for over 10 years. From eating and drinking venues to catering companies and manufacturers in the food industry. Leading Dutch and international museums have exhibited her work, such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, NEMO and the Museum of Arts & Design in New York.
For the Winter Anti Depression Show in Marres Katja Gruijters did a research in St. John’s Wort. For centuries, St. John’s wort has been attributed with medicinal properties and is the natural component in all antidepressants. You can take pills or feel down, but you can also research what three cups of St John’s tea per day do for you. In this room, visitors learn how this powerful herb works and experience its possibilities for a happiness diet: tea, syrup, vinaigrette, oil, tincture, ointments, and even after-sun cream. These products are available for sale at Marres.
In her lecture, Katja Gruijters will speak about her work as food designer, her research into the effects of St. John’s wort and the product development on the basis of the herb.
